The branch meeting on the 23rd will discuss the proposed cut of £40 to £45 million funding for services provided by the Oxford Radcliffe Hospitals Trust. This will clearly have an impact on employment and the quality of care that staff can provide.

The meeting will debate a resolution calling for action - members can amend the resolution to improve it or even reject it outright. This is an important democratic principle - the union belongs to its members. Every option including public campaigning, lobbying and moving to lawful industrial action will be up for discussion.

Negotiations are currently continuing with the ORH management about these cuts. The bigger question of course is why they are taking place and who has asked us, the people of Oxfordshire, if we agree NHS cuts. The PCT commissioners and their business consultants certainly have not.
