The most important contact number for most members is their steward and / or safety representative then their Convenor (senior steward). All these people are, just like you, health workers working on the same terms and conditions as the rest of the members of the union.

The Oxfordshire Health Branch also uses the services of UNISON Direct. Members can contact the service on 0845 355 0845 from 6 am to midnight on week days and 9 am to 4 pm on Sat.

Accountability: Branch Officers
All branch officers and delegates are elected prior to the AGM each year. They are all accountable to the branch - in practise the monthly branch committee meetings and quarterly branch meetings.  All positions are subject to annual elections.

Accountability: Reps teams
E
ach is lead by a convenor who is automatically a member of the branch committee. Convenors are accountable to all members employed by a particular Trust - stewards are responsible to the members in their particular workplace / department. The convenor should organise regular meetings of the stewards / H&S reps team in each Trust. All positions are subject to annual elections.

The Oxfordshire Health Branch is part of UNISON, the largest public sector union in the country.
We are members of the South East Region of the union.
The other local UNISON branches can be contacted via this regional website.

UNISON is affiliated to the British Trades Union Congress which unites almost all trades unions and the branch is affiliated locally to the Oxford and District Trade Union Council.
